President's Message

Welcome to the Fulton River District, a unique neighborhood in downtown Chicago wedged between the Chicago River basin on the East and the Kennedy Expressway on the West. It stretches from the office high rises on Madison St. through the developing condo towers near mainstay Blommer Chocolate Company, past the three-flats on Green, continuing north of our “restaurant row” on Grand and ends at the Ohio Street exit.  All within walking distance of the business “Loop”.

When you take the time to ask the residents of this neighborhood how they wish to see the area grow you get some different answers, but some very common themes and goals: more green space, a better sense of community with local eateries and retail stores, more influence in the type of development in the area, events that bring people together, a walking community.

The Fulton River District Association (FRDA) was founded to bring the voice of the community to our city leaders and planners. In order to do this we need your help. Over the last year the FRDA has created a number of committees to help keep its residents and businesses informed and interested. These include Development, Parks and Green Space, Membership, Events, Special Projects. Join one through the web site or call me directly at 312-260-5029 or 267-975-6203.

This area is changing rapidly. Do not wait until there is nothing more to discuss—get involved today.
