FRDA Fund-raiser 2011
The FRDA held its inaugural fundraiser on January 27th at the Ghost Bar at N9NE Steakhouse. The event was a wonderful success with more than 100 neighbors and friends in attendance bidding on silent auction items and buying up raffle tickets. The money raised will help fund programming which the FRDA provides including the clothing drive and other philanthropic activities, events at local restaurants, assisting the Park PAC with their endeavors, and basic administrative functions such as the website and weekly eNewsletter.
Both 27th Ward Alderman Burnett and 42nd Ward Alderman Reilly attended and spoke to the group about the benefits of the FRDA and how the organization is helping the community at large. Alderman Burnett specifically addressed the help he received with his annual "Stay in School Picnic," which the FRDA supported both financially and with a team of volunteers. Alderman Reilly talked about the myriad ways in which the FRDA is involved in the neighborhood, including having a voice at the local CAPS meetings, staying on top of development, and generally promoting a sense of community in this new residential area.
The FRDA would like to thank the area businesses which sponsored our night and provided silent auction items: N9NE Steakhouse, Chivas Regal, Province, Paramount Room, Sepia, New Line Tavern/Spare Time Chicago, Prairie Fire, Jefferson Tap & Grille, Alta at K Station, Echelon at K Station, Habitat Corporate Suites, James Pinzker of UBS, Pet Stuff and Amanda Gullick of Seasons of Change.
Photos of the fundraiser can be seen HERE. Look for this to be an annual event and for FRDA to do another one next year!
